We Planted Nearly 1,000 Trees in Lucknow. Here's Why It Mattered More Than We Expected.

    Plantation Drive Narrative

We Planted Nearly 1,000 Trees in Lucknow. Here's Why It Mattered More Than We Expected.

By Team Enerzon | April 2026 | Sustainability & Community

There's a particular kind of quiet that falls over a school ground in the early morning - before the day gets loud, before schedules take over. On April 22, 2026, that quiet was filled with something we hadn't quite anticipated: the sound of students, soil, and purpose all moving in the same direction.

That morning, we began what we're calling the Enerzon Green Drive - our first plantation initiative, conducted alongside B.V.B School in Lucknow, in the spirit of Earth Day 2026. Over three days, nearly 1,000 saplings found new homes in the ground. But if we're being honest, what stayed with us long after the last sapling was planted wasn't the number. It was the people.

Why We Did This - And Why Now

Enerzon exists to build digital infrastructure for India's energy commodities market. That's the business. But from the very beginning, we've believed that building something meaningful in this country - in this city - means more than shipping a product or closing a deal.

It means asking: what does the community around us actually need?

Lucknow is our home. The air, the streets, the institutions, the families here - they're not a backdrop to our work. They're the reason it matters. So when Earth Day came around this year, we didn't want to mark it with a social media post or a pledge on a website. We wanted to do something real, something rooted, something that would still be standing - literally - five years from now.

That's where the idea of a structured plantation drive took shape.

The Day It Came to Life

Walking into B.V.B School that first morning, we were genuinely moved by what we saw. Principal Sraboni Banerjee had rallied students from Classes 5 all the way through Class 12 - not as passive participants, but as actual volunteers. These were young people who showed up, got their hands in the soil, and carried saplings across the grounds with a sense of ownership that no corporate initiative could manufacture.

They weren't doing it for a grade. They were doing it because someone had asked them to care - and they did.

Our founding team - Yash Goyal and Aashi Goyal - worked shoulder to shoulder with students and faculty throughout the three days. Mr. Ashok Kumar Gupta of Baranwal Sabha, Lucknow, brought with him the weight of community trust and local knowledge that made the drive feel less like an event and more like a collective act.

There's a difference between organising something and being part of something. This felt like the latter.

What We Planted, and Why It Matters

The saplings weren't chosen arbitrarily. The mix - pomegranate, hibiscus (in red, white, and purple), eucalyptus, mulberry, roses, double chandini, lemon, and banana - was selected for regional suitability, ecological value, and longevity. Each variety brings something different: shade, fruit, fragrance, soil health.

We also used vermi compost to give every plant the best possible start. Because planting a sapling isn't the end of the responsibility - it's the beginning.

That's a philosophy we try to carry into everything we do.

Recognising the People Who Showed Up

Every student who participated received a physical certificate - a small thing, maybe, but a real one. Something tangible they could take home and point to and say: I did this. I was here.

Sponsors received e-certificates. Every moment was documented - photographs, records, stories.

Just as importantly, the sponsors who chose to support this drive did more than fund a line item. They gave the initiative momentum. Each paid sponsorship translated directly into verified plantation units, helping the campaign move from intention to execution. Some sponsors contributed a single sapling, others backed larger blocks, but every sponsorship became part of the same shared outcome: more trees in the ground, better green cover for the campus, and a stronger community signal that environmental action is worth investing in.

For us, recognising sponsors is not about ceremony alone. It is about accountability. When someone places trust in a sustainability initiative, that trust should be met with visible execution, traceable records, and proof that their contribution has been mapped to a real batch. That is why this story now carries a live sponsor-backed leaderboard and batch metrics - so support is not abstract, and participation is not lost in a generic thank-you note.

We believe that sustainability work, to be credible, has to be traceable. Not just announced. Anyone can make a promise. What we wanted to build was a record - proof that we followed through, that real people participated, and that the work was done with care.

What This Means for Enerzon Going Forward

This was Batch 1 of the Enerzon Green Drive. There will be more.

We're committed to growing this program - not just in scale, but in depth. More schools, more communities, more cities as Enerzon grows. Each batch will carry the same commitment: on-ground execution, community participation, honest documentation, and real recognition for the people who make it happen.

We started a company to change how energy is traded in India. We started this drive because we believe the companies that will matter in the long run are the ones that plant something - literally and figuratively - in the communities they call home.

Lucknow gave us a place to start. We're grateful for that. And we're not done.

    A Note of Thanks

To Principal Sraboni Banerjee and every student at B.V.B School who gave their time, energy, and enthusiasm to this drive - thank you. You made this more than an initiative. You made it meaningful.

To Mr. Ashok Kumar Gupta and Baranwal Sabha - thank you for your trust and your presence.

And to everyone who has supported Enerzon's journey so far: this is part of what we're building toward. We hope it shows.
